Greenville Township Trustees have recently taken ownership of a 20 acre site on State Route 118 and Bradford-Children’s Home Road for future expansion of fire/EMS services to the Township and the City of Greenville. The property was previously occupied by Woodland Heights Elementary School, which has been demolished.
Darke County Pheasants Forever #675 and the Trustees have reached a plan to convert approximately 10 acres that are being mowed routinely to a warm season grass/forbs wildlife habitat. This conversion of land use will accomplish a number of environmental benefits:
Improved public awareness for better land and wildlife stewardship
Significantly reduces maintenance costs (mowing, weed control) for the Township
Compliment soil and wildlife conservation to the adjoining 6 acre wood lot.
Preliminary preparation of the site began in late August, 2018 and seeding will be completed in late spring, 2019.
