Darke County Pheasants Forever Chapter #675 is again providing wildlife food plot seed at no charge.  The mixture, “Winter Survival” is very attractive to upland game birds, turkeys, deer, songbirds, and a wide range of other wildlife.  This grain-bearing mixture is designed to provide wildlife food under tough winter conditions.  It consists of early varieties of high energy corn, grain sorghums, sunflowers, and buckwheat.

This seed mixture may be planted in well-fertilized soils with a row planter, drilled, or broadcast.  If broadcast, the seed should be lightly incorporated with a harrow or similar soil finishing implement.  Seeding rate is 12 lbs. per acre.  For convenience, seed will be packaged in ½ acre increments with no limit to the number of packages per cooperator.  There will be a limited number of ¼ acre packages for smaller area seeding.

Seed distribution is in cooperation with Darke Soil & Water Conservation District, 1117 SouthTowne Court, Greenville, Ohio 45331, telephone # (937) 548-1752.  Early planting in cool, wet soils is strongly discouraged:  Therefore, seed will be available after May 15, 2019.  Reservation of seed by telephone is recommended, because supplies are limited and are usually depleted by the end of May.  Also, seed may be reserved with any Chapter 675 member – visit our website for a directory at “”.
